I’ve always loved the cool little science kits that expose kids to science and the scientific world. Science Blog has a nice blog post about one company that is teaching kids, and maybe some adults, to the world of Green Science. Kidz Labs creates lab experiments that range from water filtration to the classic potato clock that can be bought at Amazon for under $18.

Italian furniture design company, Lago, makes a cool shelving system in a unique way. Rather than the standard shelf, which simply holds things. Lago has created a way for you to bring your own creativity into the equation and mix up the shapes of the shelving to go with your environment, with their floating ‘Shelf System’ range, named Tangram.

From expressive geometric through to the letters of the alphabet, the floating shelves open the way for storing and displaying items in the home. No price is given on the website for Tangram, but something tells me it’s going to be on the steep side.

Scientists at University of Hertfordshire, UK, and working on a project that will fit our homes with smart technology, which will work out which of our rooms we occupy at certain times. Software algorithms then learn when we need the lights, heating or air conditioning systems turned on and off. This is all a part of a project called InterHome.

It is designed to demonstrate how much greener and secure our homes could be if they incorporated intelligent technologies that adapt to our daily routine. A dollhouse they have equipped to do just that has been built and is available for viewing at New Scientist.

Although I’ve never been to Costa Rica friends tell me that it is beautiful, so one of these days I’ll have to travel to the country. It is on my top ten list, due to the amazing locations, the things to do like sports, parties, the great beaches or just plain relaxing. I myself would like to try surfboarding. With the great surf of Costa Rica I would assume it would be excellent. But first one has to plan a trip and find a great place to stay. That is where costa rica resorts come in. With a resort you don’t have to worry about a thing. It’s all supplied. So if you are planning on visiting like I am, check out the resorts first.

Hello everybody and happy 4th of July a day early. Today I was reading facts about the Fourth of July at CBS News, and was startled to find out that the signing of the Declaration of Independence was acutally signed on the 2nd. Go figure. The announcement was made on the 4th, so it just kind of stuck. Anyway, Happy 4th anyway!
